Some thicker materials require pre-treatment in the form of blasting before KTL painting. It opens the surface, smoothens it and closes it again. All imperfections disappear, and also rust, for example. It creates a perfect foundation for the follow-up process, meeting the product’s roughness and cleanliness requirements.
The blasting process
The products usually hang on racks that rotate around their axis in the closed blast cabinets. We have several blast cabinets that are alternately loaded and unloaded using balls and rods. The rods open the surface, and the balls close it again. Together they clean the surface of the product and remove slight imperfections. Jet mixtures are continuously measured and supplemented. After this process, regular pre-treatment follows, suitable for KTL (e-coating) or powder coating in a muffle oven.
